Running on an inverter (UPS/generator)? The inverter aircon models (J-Smart, Q Plus X) have a low startup current draw, which means they're much friendlier on backup power systems than fixed-speed units. Many customers run their inverter aircon off a 3kVA or 5kVA home inverter. Check your inverter's continuous wattage rating against the unit's running wattage (listed on each product card) — we're happy to advise on WhatsApp.

R32 (used in Q Plus X) has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675 vs R410A's 2 088 — making it roughly 3× less harmful to the environment. It's also slightly more energy efficient and requires less refrigerant by volume for the same cooling output.

Both refrigerants are safe and effective for home use. The practical difference for you as an owner is minimal day-to-day — both perform excellently in Gauteng's climate. R32 is simply the direction the global industry is moving, and R410A will eventually be phased down. We recommend R32 (inverter models) for new installations where budget allows.

DIY (every 4–6 weeks): Open the front panel, slide out the mesh filters, rinse under cold water (no soap needed for light dust), let them dry fully in the shade, and replace. In dusty Gauteng areas or homes with pets, do this more often. A clogged filter is the single biggest cause of reduced cooling and higher electricity bills — it forces the unit to work harder.

Once a year is the minimum for home use — ideally before summer (September/October in Gauteng). For offices or units running 8+ hours daily, every 6 months is better. In dusty areas like the West Rand or near construction, more frequent servicing pays off.

All Jet Air units sold by Easy HVAC carry a 10-year compressor warranty and a 5-year warranty on all other parts (T&Cs apply). Installation by a qualified HVAC technician is a warranty condition — covered with every Easy HVAC install.

To keep your warranty valid: Keep your invoice and installation certificate. Do not allow unqualified persons to top up gas or open the refrigerant circuit. Have units serviced by a qualified technician. Physical damage (e.g. from electrical surges, flooding, or user tampering) is not covered.

Warranty claims: WhatsApp us first. We handle the process with Jet Air on your behalf and will organise an approved technician. Turnaround on parts is typically 5–10 business days.

Common issues we fix over WhatsApp:
• Unit not cooling — usually a dirty filter, wrong mode, or thermostat setting
• Remote not working — battery or signal issue

We accept EFT and cash. A 50% deposit is required to confirm your order and lock in your installation slot, with the balance due on the day of installation (before the team leaves).

We'll send you a receipt and installation certificate on completion. No hidden costs — the price on the site is the price you pay, plus any additional piping if your install is not back-to-back (R250/m for extra pipe runs).

Most residential installations take 2–4 hours per unit. Multiple units on the same day are done efficiently — a 3-unit house typically takes a full day.

What we bring: Indoor bracket, outdoor condenser bracket/stand, copper piping (3m standard back-to-back), insulation, 30A double isolator with weatherproof box, and all consumables.

What to prepare:
• Decide where you want the indoor unit (ideally on an exterior wall, high up, away from direct sun)
• Ensure outdoor unit location is accessible and ventilated
• For 18 000 BTU+ units: a dedicated circuit from your DB board is required — have a qualified electrician ready or ask us about combined packages
• Be home or have someone available to approve placement before drilling

Extra piping beyond the standard 3m run is charged at R250 excl. VAT per metre.

We are primarily a supply-and-fit operation — our pricing is based on delivering and installing as a package. We don't currently offer delivery-only within Gauteng, as installation by a qualified technician is required to validate the Jet Air warranty.
